Shopping in Monterrey
Monterrey is bustling with people, malls, markets and much more! Here you will find some state of the art malls with just about everything you ever wanted inside and an abundance of unique things to do in Monterrey. From real people that look like manikins in store windows to delicious ice cream, malls in Monterrey offer a unique flavor that has something to attract everyone in the family.
The Zona Rosa is a popular boulevard downtown where you can walk around and window shop for a variety of things. It is a bustling place and a great location to spend the afternoon among sightseeing in the centro historico.
An excellent place to find more artisan products and handicrafts, Los Cavazos offers a wide range of typical goods. Here you will find clay pots and dishes, leather products, wooden toys and instruments, and much more. You can go here to explore the goods, or explore more of the culture. If you don’t know what something is, don’t be afraid to ask questions!
A Mercado de Artesanias (Handicraft Market) is the first place I look for when I go to a Mexican town. Often overlooked by foreigners, these markets offer a variety of unique crafts, ranging from beautiful hand painted pottery, to hammocks and hand weaved baskets. You can also find typical sweets and other regional specialties like machacado (a type of dried meat) here. There is a small market in the Zona Rosa, so be sure not to miss it!
Galerias Valle Oriente
This is one of the newest and most modern malls in Monterrey, which means it offers a huge variety of services and products. From handicrafts to name brand goods, you will probably find what you are looking for (or find something you weren’t looking for but can’t live without) in this mall.
Looking for name brand items in a modern mall? Galerias Monterrey is the place to go. With a variety of department stores, a food court, specialty shops and modern technology, this mall offers a nice taste of what Mexico has to offer. Many things you can find here are cheaper than in the U.S., especially with the conversion rates…. Just make sure you have enough room in your suitcase to bring it all back!
Plaza Fiesta San Agustin
This is definitely a must-see mall in Monterrey. Featuring everything from brand names, to quaint coffee shops, Plaza Fiesta San Agustin is optimal for exploring new fashions or getting together with friends. Enjoy a movie in the cinema if all of the stores are overwhelming, or go to the food court to find typical Mexican (and international) specialties.
Located in the heart of Monterrey, this classic building houses more than a hundred stores and restaurants. Open every day of the year, Plaza Mexico is likely to have what you need when you need it.
