Embassies and Consulates in Mexico

When a foreign citizen needs to get to their Embassy, something has gone terribly wrong. However, both the embassies and consulates offer other services which don’t deal with emergencies (like reporting a birth or asking for the papers needed to get married).

All foreign Embassies are located in Mexico City. Some countries also maintain consulates and honorary consulates in several big Mexican cities.

Generally speaking, in case of an emergency you should contact the closest Consulate or call their emergency number. In most cases, the Consulates can help deal with the emergencies just like the Embassies. In an ideal case, you should also consider having travel insurance while traveling to Mexico as this will spear you from dealing with some unexpected costs.
